Janet is in demand as a simulated patient. Australian organisations have pioneered the use of actors to teach communication skills to health professionals.
This is complex and emotionally challenging improvisation work where doctors and other health professionals practice skills in breaking bad news, raising difficult topics and picking up emotional cues with skilled actors, rather than real patients.
As an actor Janet has been involved in nearly 50 workshops with Oncologists, GPs, Surgeons, Anaesthetists, Palliative care nurses, Chaplains, Social Workers, Breast Care Nurses and other allied health professionals.
She has worked with The Cancer Council in Victoria, the Cognitive Institute in Brisbane, The Quit Campaign, The National Breast Cancer Centre, Peter McCallum Cancer Hospital, Royal Melbourne Hospital and others.
